New Delhi: Actor Vikram, who has been receiving high accolades for his work in 'Ponniyin Selvan 2', has hurt himself while shooting for his upcoming movie 'Thangalaan'. The actor will be taking a break from the filming of Pa Ranjith's movie due to a rib injury, according to a tweet from Vikram's manager.

Vikram's manager Suryanarayan wrote on Twitter, "Thank you for all the love and appreciation Aditha Karikalan aka Chiyaan Vikram has received and for the astounding response to PS2 from all over the world. Chiyaan sustained an injury during rehearsals resulting in a broken rib due to which he will not be able to join his Thangalaan unit for a short while. He thanks everyone for your love and promises to be back on his feet and rocking at the earliest."

Fans have quickly reacted to the tweet wishing a speedy recovery for the actor. “As long as we are with you, nothing will happen to you,” read the tweet of an emotional fan.

Vikram plays the chief of an indigenous tribe in Thangalaan, which is based on actual events that took place in the Kolar gold mines decades ago. Recently, the making-of video for the movie was made public, and it made it appear like the story takes place during colonial rule and centres on the problem of land, a topic that Pa Ranjith frequently tackles.

The Gnanvelraja-directed movie also stars Pasupathy, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, and Daniel Caltagirone in addition to Vikram. The music for the movie is composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The film is scheduled to release next year.
