Mumbai: Popular Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda is soon going to make his Bollywood debut featuring in a lead role opposite Ananya Panday in the upcoming movie ‘Liger’. This upcoming sports action film has been creating a lot of buzz on social media ever since it has been announced.


‘Liger’ is slated to release in theatres on September 9, 2021. But there have been recent reports doing rounds that the makers have opted for an OTT release of this movie. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for an update on the release of the movie.

The lead actor of ‘Liger’, Vijay Deverakonda, took to his social media and cleared all doubts. Vijay shared a report which read ‘Vijay Deverakonda & Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Liger’ received a huge OTT offer of Rs 200 cr for its direct digital release & the satellite rights in all languages.’ ‘Makers are considering the offer’, the report ended. Dismissing the report, he wrote, “Too little. I’ll do more in the theaters.”




The teaser of the film which was supposed to release on May 9, 2021, got delayed due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The makers released a statement as they announced the postponement of the teaser release and promised the audience that they will witness Vijay Deverakonda in a never-seen-avatar before in ‘Liger’. The statement read, “We were all geared up to reveal a power-packed teaser for 'Liger' on 9th May. However, due to the current scenario and environment that our country is facing, we have decided to postpone the same in the hope to share it with the world at a better time for us all.”


“See you soon at the theatres when we are healthy and strong as a country”, the statement further read.


Produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Puri Connects, ‘Liger’ will reportedly release in five languages -- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
