New Delhi: Sandhya Mridul, who will portray Queen Jodha Bai in 'Taj: Divided by Blood', has talked about the web series. The actor stated that the character was a break from the stereotypical roles she had been playing for years during the trailer debut of the ZEE5 show.

Contrary to her 'Taj' co-star Aditi Rao Hydari, Sandhya said that she does not "get calls for royal roles." Aditi Rao Hydari will portray the iconic Anarkali character in the web series. She added that she was ready to put up with being compared to the late actor Madhubala. The actor asserted that she saw getting the role Madhubala had previously played in the 1960 film Mughal-E-Azam as a godsend.

According to the news agency PTI, Sandhya said, "The minute I wore the clothes, I felt royal because unlike Aditi I don't get calls for royal roles. I am always the cop, agent, and 'daku (dacoit)' and all those things. It was nice to play royalty, it was a nice experience.”

Meanwhile, Aditi Rao Hydari also spoke about her role and said, "(Rather than) being afraid or worried of any kind of comparisons, I look at it as an inspiration that she played Anarkali so beautifully. I took it as a blessing to play this beautiful character but in a different way because I had a different director. We are in 2023 and we are making a different kind of story, it is a similar subject though. If people want to compare, they will and I will deal with it with complete humility because I know what Madhubali ji's performance has been and how incredibly beautiful she was as a performer."

The succession drama that took place in the sacred halls of the Mughal empire is the theme of the upcoming film 'Taj - Divided by Blood'. Naseeruddin Shah portrays King Akbar in the historical series, along with Prince Salim played by Aashim Gulati and Sheikh Salim Chishti by Dharmendra. Taha Shah, Shubham Kumar Mehra, Zarina Wahab, Sauraseni Maitra, and Rahul Bose are also featured in the ten-episode series. It will start streaming on Zee5 on March 3.
