New Delhi: Superstar Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film, which was tentatively called 'Thalapathy 67', has finally got its name. The film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has been titled ‘Leo’.
Kanagaraj shared the title of the movie on Twitter along with a promo. "#LEO #BLOODYSWEET," he captioned the title reveal promo.
The promo shows Vijay preparing chocolates and the scene is intercut with the actor making a sword. The promo ends with a convoy of cars going somewhere and the actor is seen wielding a sword dripping with chocolate. He is seen saying 'bloody sweet' at the end.
Leo marks a reunion between Vijay and Kanagaraj after the 2021 blockbuster 'Master'.
Actor Trisha Krishnan also stars in the film. She has previously worked with Vijay in Tamil hits -- ‘Ghilli’, ‘Kuruvi’, ‘Thirupaachi’ and ‘Aathi’.
The announcement of Trisha joining the cast was made on February 1 by the makers.
"After 14 years, Get ready to meet the sensational on-screen pair once again #Thalapathy @actorvijay sir - @trishtrashers mam," the studio tweeted.
In a statement, Krishnan said, "Grateful to be part of this iconic project featuring some of my favourite people and an immensely talented team. Exciting times ahead."
‘Leo’ will also act as Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt debut in Tamil cinema. The film also stars Arjun Sarja, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Mysskin and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
The plot details of the movie have been kept under wraps. However, there are speculations that the movie is part of Kanagaraj's 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe', which also includes Karthi-led ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’, headlined by cinema veteran Kamal Haasan.
Anirudh Ravichander, who has composed music for Vijay's blockbuster hits 'Kaththi', 'Master' and 'Beast', will create the soundtrack for 'Leo' as well.
The film started shooting earlier this month. It is produced by S S Lalit Kumar and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy.
