The trailer of one of the most-anticipated movies of this year, Thalaivi, starring National Film Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut was launch in a grand event in Chennai on Tuesday. In the film Kangana will be seen in the role of the protagonist, in multilingual biopic revolves around the life of actress turned politician and late former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayaram Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa served six terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Directed by A. L. Vijay, ‘Thalaivi’ is all set to hit the screens on April 23, 2021.

The trailer showcases the journey of Kangana as J Jayalalithaa from being an actor to a revolutionary leader. The actor looks surreal as the late actor and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as she left no stone unturned in getting into the skin of her character.
Thalaivi trailer comes a day after Kangana won the National Film Award for her performance in Manikarnika and Panga.
Ahead of trailer launch Kangana shared her look for the event looking resplendent in a sari.
Produced by Vibri Media in collaboration with Karma Media And Entertainment, ‘Thalaivi’ has been shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Officially announced on the occasion of Jayalalithaa’s birthday on February 24, 2019, the filming of ‘Thalaivi’ commenced on November 10, 2019. Earlier the film was slated to hit the screens on June 26, 2020, but got delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
‘Thalaivi’ found itself embroiled in controversy when Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar registered a complaint against the makers. She demanded that the makers should send the whole script of the film before releasing it on the big screens as it might affect the privacy of the late politician and her family.
Other than Kangana Ranaut, the film will also star Arvind Swami who will portray the role of M. G. Ramachandran. Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Bhagyashree and others will also be seen illustrating pivotal roles in the movie.
