As a part of investigation, in wake of Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case, the Mumbai Police have sent the cloth, that the late actor allegedly used to hang himself, to a forensic lab for ‘tensile strength analysis,’ an official said on Friday.

The police have sent the gown used to hang by the actor for chemical and forensic analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in suburban Kalina.

What is Tensile Strength?

Tensile strength is maximum load that a material can support without fracture when being stretched.

The tensile strength test will technically establish whether the cloth can bear around 80 kg, the weight of the actor. The test will also help determine if there was any foul play.

It will take at least three more days to get the final forensic report, said an official.

To ascertain the exact cause of death, forensic experts will check pattern of ligature marks around the actor’s neck and also determine the strength of the gown with the help of ‘tensile strength’ analysis, he said.

Recently, the police received the final post-mortem report of the actor from Cooper Hospital, which mentioned the cause of the death as ‘asphyxia due to hanging’.

The forensic report of the actor’s mobile phone is also awaited.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is being interrogated by the Mumbai Police on Monday, reportedly Bhansali had offered some blockbuster films to Rajput but the later could not work with him apparently due to his contract with Yash Raj Films.

So far 29 people including family and close friends of Sushant Singh Rajput have been summoned by police as part of investigation.
