Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his official Twitter handle to announce the news. He wrote, "AKSHAY KUMAR IN 'SOORARAI POTTRU' HINDI REMAKE: FILMING BEGINS... #AkshayKumar stars in the #Hindi remake of #Tamil film #SooraraiPottru... The #Hindi remake - not titled yet - is directed by #SudhaKongara, who directed the original #Tamil version... Costars #RadhikaMadan."

He also shared the first official poster of the film in which we see a silhouette of Akshay Kumar and a plane in the middle of it.

Akshay Kumar also announced the commencement of the shoot on his Instagram handle. He shared a video of Radhika Madan breaking coconut ( an auspicious sign to start something new) while he and the film's director Sudha Kongara watched.

Akshay captioned the video, "With the auspicious coconut-breaking and a small prayer in our heart, we begin the filming of our yet untitled film which is about dreams and the power of it 💫 In case you’ll have any title suggestions, do share and of course your best wishes 🙏🏻."

Sudha Kongara had also directed the original Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru' for which she won the SIIMA Award for best director- Tamil.

The film's story was partially inspired from the memoir of Simplifly Deccan founder G.R. Gopinath 'Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey'.

'Soorarai Potru' was acclaimed by critics for its writing and other technical aspects of filmmaking. It was also among the Top 10 Indian films to be screened at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.

It will be a delight to watch what the Hindi remake by the same director brings forward.

Sudha Kongara has previously worked with the likes of Mani Ratnam and Rajkumar Hirani.
