New Delhi: Bollywood star Sunny Deol made a solid comeback with the sequel ‘Gadar 2’. Following the success of the film, he is once again preparing for a sequel of another film. Sunny is reportedly teaming up with Ayushmann Khurrana for the sequel of J.P. Dutta’s ‘Border’. Producing and writing with her father, J.P. Dutta, Nidhi Dutta is set to begin filming 'Border 2' in the first quarter of 2024.
Sunny Deol is set to feature as the lead actor in the film. In the next weeks, the rest of the cast will be announced.
The scriptwriter and director Nidhi Dutta plans for ‘Border 2’ to be the most ambitious war film in India's history, according to an insider. Anurag Singh, who directed the Akshay Kumar–led historical drama 'Kesari' (2019), is supposedly Nidhi's choice to oversee the project's direction.
The film will be an attempt to provide a more all-encompassing view of the 1971 conflict. Not only does the film honour the historical events of the 1971 conflict, but it also delves into the personal narratives that played out on the battlefield.
IANS quotes a source, saying, “Nidhi Dutta who is also penning the script, envisions ‘Border 2’ as the biggest war film ever made in the country. Unlike its predecessors, the movie aims to showcase the collaborative efforts of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, offering a comprehensive perspective on the 1971 war. The narrative is expected to interweave personal stories of war heroes and martyrs, adding a human touch to the grand spectacle of warfare.”
To provide an accurate portrayal of historical events, the film's production started in 2022 with several journeys to Delhi to get the required approvals from the Defence Ministry to film in actual places and use authentic names.
Looks like The story's creator, J.P. Dutta, is determined to honour the 'Border' franchise.
