Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Sui Dhaaga: Made in India’, which hit the silver screens on September 28, has started on a flying note at the box office. Trade pundits were expecting the Sharat Katariya directorial to rake in big moolah on the first day and the film didn’t disappoint them. The trailer of ‘Sui Dhaaga’, which was released last month, had managed to create anticipation among the movie buffs. ‘Sui Dhaaga’ day 1 box office collection stood at Rs 8.30 crore and the movie is expected to continue the momentum in its opening weekend.

Fans are super excited to see the fresh pairing of Varun and Anushka and this seems to work in favour of the film. The two are playing reel life husband-wife and have been appreciated for their chemistry and acting in the film.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh shared Sui Dhaaga’s box office collection on Twitter. ‘’ SuiDhaaga has an encouraging Day 1... Had an ordinary start in the morning shows, but gathered momentum as the day progressed... Film lost out on a big chunk of biz due to #AsiaCup2018 finals, but should recover lost ground on Day 2... Fri ₹ 8.30 cr [2500 screens]. India biz,’’ Taran wrote on the micro-blogging site.

'Sui Dhaaga' follows the story of Mauji and Mamta, who take control of their lives and establish their own textile business.

'Sui Dhaaga' didn't face much competition from Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Pataakha', which also released on the same day as the varun-Anushka starrer. The film starring Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan and Sunil Grover had a lukewarm start at the box office. The comedy drama film collected Rs 90 lakhs on its first day.
