Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the first day collection of the movie and tweeted that Student Of The Year 2 put up a "fairly good total" on the opening day. He added that the movie is Tiger Shroff's second highest opening film so far after Baaghi 2.

In subsequent tweets, Taran Adarsh also revealed that with 12.06 crores, SOTY 2 is the fifth highest opening Bollywood film after Kalank, Kesari, Gully Boy and Total Dhamaal which recorded an opening of Rs 21.60 cr, Rs 21.06 cr, Rs 19.40 cr and Rs 16 cr, respectively.

The movie is the sequel to 2012 film Student Of The Year, through which Karan Johar launched Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in Bollywood.
