Advance bookings for 'Stree 2', starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, opened over the weekend, and the film is already generating significant buzz. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this sequel to the 2018 hit 'Stree' is set to hit theaters on August 15, Independence Day. Film trade analysts have predicted a massive opening, estimating that the horror-comedy could rake in a "humongous ₹30-35 crore" on its first day.

'Stree 2' Advance Booking Collections

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared, "ADVANCE BOOKING UPDATE: ‘STREE 2’ TICKET SALES ARE ON 🔥🔥🔥… The film industry can finally breathe a sigh of relief… #Stree2 is poised for a sensational start at the #BO… The pre-sales - which are growing rapidly by the hour - indicate a #Blockbuster start for this horror-comedy.

On the other hand, advance bookings for the other two #IndependenceDay releases - #KhelKhelMein and #Vedaa - are currently sluggish… However, there’s hope that the ticket sales will pick up before they hit cinemas."

As of Monday, August 12, 'Stree 2' had already sold over 1.2 lakh tickets, according to Sacnilk, with gross earnings of ₹4.09 crore from advance sales—already surpassing the advance sales of recent Bollywood releases like 'Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha' and 'Ulajh'.

The excitement surrounding 'Stree 2' is palpable, thanks to the strong legacy of the franchise and the audience's faith in its content. Given the film's momentum, it wouldn't be surprising if it opens with over ₹30 crore nett in India, especially with spot bookings on a national holiday potentially boosting its earnings even further.

Stree 2 Box-Office Clash

At the box office, 'Stree 2' will face competition from other major Hindi releases, including Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham's 'Vedaa'. Additionally, Tamil actor Vikram's 'Thangalaan', directed by Pa Ranjith, and Puri Jagannadh's 'Double iSmart', featuring Telugu star Ram Pothineni alongside Sanjay Dutt, are also set to release on Independence Day.

About Stree

The original 'Stree' was one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed films of 2018, featuring a strong ensemble cast that included Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. The sequel sees the return of the original cast, with Amar Kaushik once again directing. The first film was set in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, where an evil spirit named 'Stree' abducted men during the festival season. It was based on the urban legend of 'Nale Ba,' which went viral in Karnataka in the 1990s.
