Actor Janhvi Kapoor has recently made her Telugu film debut in ‘Devara Part 1’, starring alongside Jr. NTR. The action-packed flick has garnered a lot of attention since its release in October. Now, the actor has a forthcoming project with Ram Charan, further expanding her filmography.
Sridevi on Janhvi Kapoor's Telugu debut
In an old video, her late mother and actor Sridevi, talked about Janhvi's entry into the South film industry. Sridevi was an iconic actress who made her mark in Bollywood as well as in Telugu and Tamil cinema, sharing the screen with legendary actors, including Chiranjeevi.
In a 2014 interview, Sridevi was asked whether her daughter Janhvi would be starring in a Telugu remake of her film, ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’, alongside Ram Charan. At that time, Janhvi was just 16, and rumours had circulated about her potential debut in the Telugu film industry. However, Sridevi clarified that Janhvi was still focused on her education and was uncertain about her career path at that age .
Before making her Telugu debut, Janhvi talked about Sridevi's history in the South film industry. She said, ''Mom has such a history with the families of NTR sir and Ram Charan sir, it’s my honour that I’m able to work with both these extremely talented actors''.
''Somehow it makes me feel closer to my mom, to be in that environment, as well as to hear and speak in that language. It just felt like it was the right time, I felt I was gravitating towards it,'' she added.

Chiranjeevi wants a remake of his film with Sridevi
Back in 2017, Niharika, Nagendra Babu’s daughter, hosted a rapid-fire segment featuring both Chiranjeevi and his son, Ram Charan. During the chat, she asked, “What is one film of your father’s that you would love to remake?”. Charan replied, ‘Gang Leader’.
Then Chiranjeevi said, “Can I say which film of mine I want Charan to remake? Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari.” When asked whom he would pick as the lead opposite Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi said, “Sridevi has a daughter, no?”, referring to Janhvi Kapoor.
Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, the 1990 fantasy film featured Chiranjeevi and Sridevi in lead roles, alongside notable actors like Amrish Puri, Kannada Prabhakar, Allu Ramalingaiah, and Rami Reddy in pivotal roles. The film became a massive success, setting the record as the highest-grossing Telugu film of its time.
Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor are set to share the screen for the first time. Their upcoming film is tentatively titled RC16.
