New Delhi: ‘Sooryanvanshi’ is one of the most awaited films of this year. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of this cop-drama directed by Rohit Shetty to hit the screens. Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, ‘Sooryavanshi’ was slated to release on April 30, 2021, but due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country, the makers have now decided to postpone the release of the film.


An official statement released by the director revealed that there has been a meeting between the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray and Rohit Shetty regarding the release of the film. The statement read, “There was a discussion between Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray and Rohit Shetty yesterday (Sunday). Considering the current situation of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Uddhav Thackeray appreciated the courageous decision to postpone the release of 'Sooryavanshi'.”

The previous release date of ‘Sooryavanshi’ was officially announced on March 14, on the birthday of director Rohit Shetty. The promotion of this film was supposed to start on April 10. But after the curfew imposed in the state due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 and the government's decision for a lockdown every weekend till 30 April, the makers of 'Sooryavanshi' have decided to postpone the release of the film once again.


‘Sooryavanshi’ was about to release last year on March 24, 2020. But the release got delayed due to the nationwide lockdown.
