New Delhi: After Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, another biopic Soorma hit the silver screens on July 13. The film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles has opened well on the first day. The Shaad Ali directorial, which received mixed reviews from the critics, has minted Rs 3.25 crore on the opening day. The movie started slow in the morning shows but picked up pace from evening, thus starting on a decent note.

Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared Soorma’s box office collection on Twitter. ''After a slow start in morning shows [North India opening was good due to Diljit Dosanjh’s stardom], #Soorma gathered momentum from evening onwards... Is looking at substantial growth on Sat and Sun thanks to strong word of mouth... Fri ₹ 3.25 cr. India biz,'' he wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Soorma, which also stars Angad Bedi and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, is based on the life of international hockey playrer Sandeep Singh. The film shows the inspirational journey of his comeback to the Indian national team. Diljit Dosanjh, who played the role of Sandeep, has been appreciated for his performance.
