Shraddha took to social media to share the news with her fans and express her excitement on playing a different role in a movie. She said that she grew up watching and admiring Sridevi's 'Nagina' and 'Nigahen' and always wanted to play similar kinds of roles.

"It’s an absolute delight for me to play a Naagin on screen. I have grown up watching, admiring and idolising Sridevi ma'am's Nagina and Nigahen and have always wanted to play a similar role rooted in Indian traditional folklore," the 'Baaghi' actress tweeted.

Several Bollywood actresses including Vyjayanthimala, Reena Roy and Sridevi have played the roles of a 'Nagin' in their films. The makers of 'Nagin' are planning to produce the film on a grand scale with exciting VFX effects.

'Lappchapi' director Vishal Furia will helm the trilogy while Nikhil Dwivedi will produce the flick under the banner of Saffron Broadcast & Media Ltd. The production house is yet to reveal the release date of 'Nagin'.

On the professional front, Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in 'Baaghi 3' opposite Tiger Shroff. The action drama couldn't enjoy a long run at the box office due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The fifth season of 'Naagin' is currently on air on Colors channel. The revenge saga stars Surbhi Chandna, Ssharad Malhotra and Mohit Sehgal in lead roles. Surbhi's 'Naagin' avatar has grabbed several eyeballs. It remains to be seen how the film performs at the box office.
