Actor Abhishek Bachchan, often compared to his iconic father Amitabh Bachchan, recently shared insights into how his mother, Jaya Bachchan, reacts to such comparisons. In a recent interview, Abhishek expressed gratitude to director Shoojit Sircar for drawing parallels between him and Jaya instead, revealing her reaction to these observations.
Shoojit Sircar’s Remark
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama about Abhishek’s performance in 'I Want To Talk', Shoojit Sircar praised the actor, saying, "Abhishek steals your heart in this film. I saw a lot of Jayaji in his performance. You will see her warmth and charm in his character in the film too. I remember Jayaji in a Satyajit Ray film standing near a wall and staring—you will find those stares in his eyes too."
Abhishek’s Response
Responding to Shoojit’s comment, Abhishek shared, "Throughout my career of 25 years, there has been such a huge reference to my father and his amazing work, but very few attribute anything to my beautiful mother. I am glad Shoojit did; she will be very happy. She keeps saying, ‘You’re my son too.’"
Despite the appreciation, Abhishek humbly noted that he doesn’t feel worthy of being mentioned alongside his parents, both celebrated actors in their own right.
Shoojit’s Earlier Reflection
In an earlier interview with India Today, Shoojit elaborated, "Everyone talks about how much he is like his father, but I saw a lot of Jayadi, especially in his eyes, his mannerisms, and just the way he talks. We have seen Jayadi in films like Mahanagar or Abhimaan... how pure she was. I saw that same purity in Abhishek. His eyes spoke to me."
About I Want To Talk
While Abhishek’s latest film, I Want To Talk, has received positive reviews from critics, its box office performance has been lackluster, with limited audience turnout.
Before this, Abhishek appeared in the sports drama Ghoomer (2023) and the social comedy-drama Dasvi (2022).
