Late legendary actress Sridevi's untimely demise on 24th February due to accidental drowning came as a shock for her family as well as fans. Last seen on-screen in 'Mom', Sridevi was very excited for her next film 'Shiddat' to be produced by Karan Johar's 'Dharma Productions'.

Now, if recent buzz is to be believed, then another legendary actress Madhuri Dixit Nene may be seen replacing Sridevi in 'Shiddat'.

Speaking about the same, sources told a leading entertainment portal that, "The dhak-dhak girl Madhuri Dixit will replace Sridevi in this cross-border period drama. The makers are in talks with Aaja Nachle actress to play Sridevi’s role. Since Madhuri is close to Karan Johar, she feels it’ll be her way to pay a memorable tribute to Sridevi, if she becomes the part of this project."

But seems like the news was a mere rumour as a source close to Dharma confirmed to another entertainment portal that the reports are absolutely baseless and that Karan won't be approaching anyone till all the post-demise rituals of the veteran actor are not complete.
"There are a lot of speculative stories during the rounds about the star cast of Abhishek Verman's Shiddat but let us clarify, no one has been approached for the film yet. Karan is very sensitive about the Kapoor family and till all the post-death rituals of Sridevi are not completed, he wouldn't start anything. Also, Karan is not in the country so till he isn't back, nobody would be approached," a source close to Dharma informed Pinkvilla.

Speaking about Shiddat, the film will reportedly be a multi-starrer film with star like Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha & Aditya Roy Kapur in important roles. 'Shiddat' is to be helmed by Abhishek Varman of '2 States' fame.
