New Delhi: Entertainment and sports guru Shailendra Singh, who has produced over 70 feature films and is the brain behind some classy ad campaigns, is going to be lead India in the upcoming Over50s Cricket World Cup. Singh has been appointed captain of the Over50s World Cup to be played in South Africa next year. Singh, who is the captain of the Bombay Gymkhana cricket team,  has been associated with cricket and cricketers for years.

"Cricket has always been more than just a hobby for me, it's a passion that I have pursued as a parallel career. It's an honor to be Indian captain to the Over 50s team at the World Cup and a reassurance that there is no age to pursue dreams. I will strive to achieve the best at the tournament and I hope we are able to make our fellow countrymen
proud of us", the captain said.

Singh, in fact, came to Mumbai, as a young boy only to play cricket. Instead, he landed a job as a steward at the Taj hotel. Over the years, this young man traveled industries, brands and Bollywood and even played county cricket in the UK and Scotland. Singh is credited to be the only filmmaker who made a movie with 300 debutants which went on to become a runaway hit. Titled Pyaar Mein Kabhie Kabhie, it marked the debut of Sanjay Suri, Rinke Khanna (Dimple Kapadia's daughter) and Dino Morea, among other popular names.

However, for now, Singh can only think of cricket and selection of the rest of the squad. The tournament is going to be played between March 10-24 and is placed in Pool A with Pakistan, England, and South Africa.
