New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan has not been approached for the hit-action franchise 'Dhoom'. The fourth film 'Dhoom 4' has been making headlines as far its lead casting is concerned and SRK's name has been doing the rounds about the film's lead. However, as per an Indian Express report, the news is 'unfounded'.

Rumours about 'Dhoom 4' going on floors appear and vanish every once in a while. However, there has been no solid update about the much-anticipated and much-loved film franchise's fourth installment.

The latest update, now as per several media reports, is that while work on the Yash Raj film is underway, the star cast of the film is not locked and whether 'Jawan' star SRK will be headlining the film, is alo untrue.

A source close to the development told Indian Express, "The news of Shah Rukh Khan starring in Dhoom 4 is unfounded. Nothing is locked yet.”

Earlier on Friday, news about Shah Rukh Khan and Ram Charan being roped in for 'Dhoom 4' had surfaced on the internet but it seems like that fans will have to wait some more before anything is finalised about the film's cast.

'Dhoom' is one of the most successful film franchises under the Yash Raj Films banner. It began in 2004 with 'Dhoom' starring Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the lead roles. The film was followed by the 2006 movie 'Dhoom 2' that had Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek in the lead, who has been a constant in the franchise movies.

In the third part, which was released in 2013, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif were seen in key roles in the film.

On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan was most recently seen in Rajkummar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ alongside Taapsee Pannu. ‘Dunki’ continues to do great numbers at the box office and opened to a good response.

2023 has been a great year for SRK, who has almost bounced back and become an een bigger and bankable star than before with films like ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’ and now ‘Dunki’.
