New Delhi: Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming film 'Shaakuntalam'. The big-budget film will be releasing soon in theatres. Samantha, who has been on the promotional spree for 'Shaakuntalam' spoke about how there is no barrier between north and south films today. Samantha told news agency ANI, "There's no wall between North and South films now. I don't want to engage in any debate over this. As an actor, it gives me immense pleasure that I can work in films across languages. Nowadays, audiences also watch movies from different languages."


When Samantha was asked about the movie, "t's a love story. And love is like a universe in itself. Our cultural heritage is rich. And the story of this film is inspired from one of our oldest classics. Apart from the story, the movie has high-level graphics and special effects." She also added that she was quite nervous for the film as it is quite a big budget film.


"I am excited as well as a bit nervous. The budget of the film is quite high. But I feel, audience will love the movie," she added.


Shaakuntalam' is based on the famous Sanskrit play 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam' by Kalidasa. The film stars Dev Mohan as king Dushyant while Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha will portray the role of Prince Bharat in the film. Allu Arha is making her debut as a child artist in 'Shaakuntalam'. 


Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla will also be seen in supporting roles in the film.


The film has been helmed by Gunasekhar. 'Shaakuntalam' is a grand historic-period film. It is produced by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations. Bankrolled on a budget of Rs. 80 crores, 'Shaakuntalam' will be released in theatres on April 14, 2023.
