Mumbai: The ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali completes 25 years in the Hindi film industry as a director today. SLB’s first directorial movie ‘Khamoshi’ starring Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles, was released 25 years ago today (August 9, 1996). Written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar, ‘Khamoshi’ is one of the best musicals of Bollywood.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali also directed some of the iconic movies of Bollywood – ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Black’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’ and others. SLB has directed many stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and many more. He has paved the way for many actors to be superstars through his films.
As today marks a special day for the ace filmmaker, many Bollywood celebrities took to their social media to celebrate 25 years of Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the industry.
Salman Khan congratulated and wrote, “25 Years of SLB Congratulations Sanjay on completing 25 glorious years ..”
Ranveer Singh penned down a long heartfelt note for the director. A portion of his note read, “My bond with SLB is very deep. I have done my best work with Him. He is a master of his craft and a true artist. Whenever you are directed by him you have a tremendous growth spurt as a performer. He challenges you, he pushes you to deliver a performance that’s visceral, spirited and comes from a place deep within you.”
Priyanka Chopra also tweeted, “Congratulations on celebrating 25 years to @Bhansali_Prod. Sanjay Sir has single handedly given Hindi cinema a genre that’s exclusively his. Happy to have been a small part of this incredible legacy. Here’s to more magic”.
Alia Bhatt, who will be next seen featuring in a lead role in ‘Gangubai Kathiwadi’, posted a picture with SLB and wrote, “25 years of the magician & his magic. Love you sir”.

Speaking on the work front, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next directorial movie ‘Gangubai Kathiwadi’ is awaiting its release in theatres. The movie will star Alia Bhatt in a lead role and will mark the actress’ first collaboration with the director.
