New Delhi: Film-maker Nagraj Manjule, who became talk of the town following the phenomenal success of his Marathi film 'Sairat,' recently came under negative light with his former wife Sunita's shocking revelations.

While the director has branded himself as a socially-sensitive person in several interviews, his former wife has a different story to tell, reports Quint.

In an interview, while describing a marital life filled with strife, abuse, and most of all, neglect and abandonment, she claimed that the director's family once locked up her up in a room when they were going to New Delhi.

Reportedly, she was married to the director when he was studying in the 12th standard and went to live with his family in Solapur.

Highlighting her plight even further, Sunita added that following these developments she was forced to undergo a few abortions and even work as a maid in different houses in order to earn her livelihood.

For the uninitiated, Nagraj is one of the most respected names in the Marathi film industry and his 'Sairat' became the first Marathi film to cross the Rs 65 crore mark at the ticket window.
