New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan, who portrayed Lankesh in ‘Adipurush’, recently discussed the film's financial failure in an interview. Reportedly produced on a budget of Rs 500 crores, the Om Raut–directed Adipurush bombed at the box office. Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage were among the actors featured in the Ramayana-inspired film.

In an interview with Film Companion, Saif flat-out denied that he is a multi-talented celebrity with the ability to start a multitude of ventures. To prove his argument, he referred to his 2019 film, ‘Laal Kaptaan’. Navdeep Singh's film barely broke the Rs 50 lakh barrier on its first day of release. Saif said he was not big enough to pull anything off.

The actor said, “It’s nice to be realistic, and I’ve never actually thought of myself as a star, and I don’t really want to also. I like being a star, but I don’t want to be delusional. My parents are big stars, but very realistic, very normal."

He gave an example of 'Adipurush' and said, "The idea is not to be scared of failing. People say, ‘That was a brave choice…’ You talk about Adipurush, for example. People talk about risks, but if you fall on your face, it’s not a risk really. You have to have a few of those also, and it’s a part of the approach. You have to shrug it off, feel bad, and say, ‘Nice try, but bad luck, let’s go to the next one’."

About 'Adipurush'

Om Raut's ‘Adipurush’, which featured Prabhas as Ram and Kriti Sanon as Sita, was released on June 16, 2023. The much-anticipated film earned negative reviews from both critics and audiences.

Some of the most common complaints about 'Adipurush' were its language, its portrayal of Lord Hanuman and Ravana, and its VFX. The film's CBFC certification was challenged in the Supreme Court, but the case was ultimately dismissed.
