New Delhi: Rajat Barmecha made his acting debut in the coming-of-age movie 'Udaan', which recently marked its 13th anniversary. The groundbreaking directorial debut of Vikramaditya Motwane was released on July 16, 2010. As a way to celebrate the film, Ronit Roy and Rajat Barmecha, who portrayed the father-son duo in the film set in Jamshedpur, got back together. Ronit wrote and directed a comedic sketch starring the main cast about the 2010 movie, which Rajat posted on his Instagram page.
Rajat can be seen jogging in the video before being stopped by Ronit. “Terah saal baad pakad mein aaya hai,” Ronit says. “Ye daadhi kyun badha rakhi hai?" he adds. “Ladkiyon ko sexy lagti hai,” Rajat responds. Then, exactly as in the movie, the two go on a bicycle ride together.
“Rohan meets Bhairav Singh in 2023! WAIT FOR THE END,” Rajat captioned the video.
Many accolades were given to 'Udaan' at prestigious international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival.
Rajat Barmecha stated that because it gave him his first-ever exposure, no other movie could have been the better for his acting debut. Speaking about the film completing 13 years, Rajat told IANS, “It always feels very special, every year. Udaan has been a very special film for a lot of people and it definitely will be the most special for Vikram (Motwane) and I. We both started our journeys together with this film and learnt so much on the way. Generally even for a classic people celebrate their 10 years or 15 years anniversary but Udaan is so close to my heart and the heart of so many people out there”.
“I auditioned for it like any other boy who comes to Bombay in the hope of getting a film, I wasn’t thinking how or with what kind of a film I wanted to start my career. I just wanted to act. And that’s the reason I am extremely grateful that a film like ‘Udaan’ came my way at the start of my career. There is no film in the world that could have been a better debut for me than ‘Udaan’,” he added.
On the work front, Rajat Barmecha recently starred alongside Radhika Madan in 'Kacchey Limbu'.
