RIP! Indian film icon Vinod Khanna passes away at 70

Vinod Khanna was from a non filmy background. His father ran a business in textiles, dyes and chemicals, the actor was a commerce graduate from, Delhi.
Considered as one of the most good-looking heroes of his time, Vinod Khanna was one of those few actors who start their career by doing negative roles and later beacme a mainstream hero. He debuted in Sunil Dutt's 1968 film Man Ka Meet as a villain.
Vinod Khanna was the original choice of Sanjay Dutt's 'Rocky', the actor was reportedly offered the lead role in the film by the same name that eventually went to Dutt.
He originally started the six pack trend in Bollywood, the actor was quoted in an interview, saying, "Things have certainly changed a lot over the years. Today a lot of focus is there on the hero's physique, his six pack abs. Even in our times a lot of us had that kind of body, par humne dikhaya nahi."
Vinod Khanna won five Filmfare awards so far, including Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999.
Khanna shifted to spiritualism and became a disciple of Osho in 1975. In the early 1980s he shifted base to the US to work as Rajneesh’s gardener.
He was reportedly engaged to Saif Ali Khan's ex wife, Amrita Singh. The fiery Punjabi girl, famous for her relationships with actors Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, and cricketer Ravi Shastri, was attracted towards the tall Khanna just after his breakup with wife Geetanjali. The duo is known for their alleged wild affair in Bollywood!
Vinod Khanna was probably the first Bollywood hero who took temporary retirement from the industry when he was still at the peak of his career.
His role in Qurbani was first offered to Amitabh Bachchan. The film went on to be the highest-grossing film of that year and a musical hit.
Even in his second innings, Vinod Khanna was the second most paid actor when new actors like Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff had entered the industry.
