New Delhi: The wedding of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy sparked controversy as it took place during the nationwide lockdown, which was imposed to combat the further spread of Coronavirus. At a time, when people are following social distancing and staying locked inside their houses, Nikhil Kumaraswamy tied the knot with Revathi despite the COVID-19 lockdown. Several family members and friends of the bride and groom attended the wedding, flouting the social distancing norms.

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon slammed the wedding for defying the lockdown restrictions. The ‘Mohra’ actress shared a sarcastic post on Twitter.

“Ok. Obviously poor souls are not aware that many in the country not being able to reach their families and are going hungry,while the rest are trying to help others override this crisis.Wonder what was served in the buffet.. #SocialDistancing  #unheededwarnings #vipentitlement,” Raveena wrote on the micro-blogging site.


Raveena Tandon has decided to provide nutritious cooked meals for those who are unable to provide for themselves amid the lockdown in the country. She will fulfill the cooking requirements of the needy in association with the NGO Akshaya Patra. On receiving support from Raveena, the NGO thanked the actress on Twitter.

“Very pleased to share, Ms. Raveena Tandon has contributed to our COVID-19 relief effort. Her generosity will help us facilitate cooked meals to needful people across India. Thank you, @TandonRaveena, we really appreciate your kind support,” the tweet read.
