Varun Srivastava in ‘Lootera’


Inspired by O Henry’s ‘The Last Leaf’, ‘Lootera’ is a period romantic drama set in the backdrop of the 1950s. Ranveer Singh played the role of the protagonist in this movie - a conman posing as an archaeologist. Though the ‘83’ actor already played the role of a conman in ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’, it was more on the lighter side. However, in ‘Lootera’, Ranveer totally delivered the performance with a perfect amount of intensity which was required for illustrating the character of a conman and his brewing romance with the daughter of the zamindar.


Ram Rajadi in ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela’


A lover boy who was colorful in his own ways - Ram Rajadi, a character portrayed by Ranveer Singh with utmost perfection. This movie also marked the ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ actor’s first film with his wife Deepika Padukone. Ranveer received critical acclamation for his impactful performance in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie.


Kabir Mehra in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’


Centered around a brother-sister relationship, this Zoya Akhtar movie tells the story of a dysfunctional family from high societies of Delhi. Ranveer Singh portrayed the role of Kabir Mehra, son of a billionaire businessman who had dreams of flying instead of taking care of the family business. The obedient good boy of parents turning into a man who pursues his own dreams on his terms and conditions, Kabir Mehra is one of the most conventional and touching characters portrayed by Singh.


Peshwa Bajirao in ‘Bajirao Mastani’


Ranveer Singh donned the character of Peshwa Bajirao, a man who never lost a battle in his entire life in his 20-year military year. The actor perfectly illustrated the character of a lovelorn warrior who won every battle but lost the battle of love. This movie marked his second collaboration with Deepika and won him critical acclamations and several awards.


Alauddin Khilji in ‘Padmaavat’


For the first time in his career, Ranveer Singh portrayed the role of an antagonist in the 2018 movie ‘Padmaavat’. He received praises from the critics for his illustration of Khilji’s character in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie and also won him several awards.


Murad Ahmed in ‘Gully Boy’
