Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has zeroed in on Sonam Kapoor to play an actor from the 1980s and 1990s in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are reuniting as an onscreen pair ten years after they made their acting debuts with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya'.

The romantic drama bombed at the box office and the two never worked together after the same. There was conjecture about how the two industry kids do not get along anymore. However, putting all rumors to rest, they are all set to share the screen space yet again.

According to a report in a leading daily, "Sonam will be playing the role of an actress, inspired by actresses Dutt was involved with during the ‘80s and ‘90s."

A source was quoted in Mumbai Mirror which said, "Her character is not reflective of any particular woman but is a fictional amalgamation of the many women Dutt dated through the 1980s and 90s," reveals a source close to the development."
Ranbir will reportedly also be reuniting with his Ae Dil Hai Mushkil co-star Anushka Sharma, who will be playing a journalist in the film."
