On September 20, Blackpool police shared a photo of the suspect on a security camera writing “Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September.”

The photo went viral after fans on Twitter started comparing the picture of the suspect with the character of Ross from the 1994 sitcom 'Friends'.
Taking it one step further, the Hollywood actor shared a video of himself moving through a convenience store with cans much like the suspect in the photo posted by the police and Tweeted, "Officers, I swear it wasn't me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation. #itwasntme"
Lucky for David, by the time he posted the video, Blackpool police had already ruled out the possibility of him being the suspect. "Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We’re so sorry it has to be this way," the police department had tweeted.
