New Delhi: 'Pathaan', starring Shah Rukh Khan, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. Ever since its release the spy flick has shown no signs of slowing down. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, on its ninth day of release, 'Pathaan' surpassed the Rs 700 crore milestone at the global box office.
The movie made Rs 57 crore in its opening day at home theatres on Wednesday. Due to its midweek release, the movie had a lengthy five-day weekend and was able to surpass the Rs 500 crore milestone globally during that period.
'Pathaan', which was directed by Siddharth Anand, hasn't surpassed the domestic box office totals of 'KGF Chapter 2' and 'Baahubali 2', but only when it comes to the Hindi version of these movies. Meanwhile, the film is about to surpass 'Dangal's record, which is currently at Rs 387.38 crore (nett).
Within eight days of its release, 'Pathaan' made Rs 336 crore in India. Its eight-day total in India has increased to Rs 348.50 crore owing to collections of Rs 12.50 crore in Tamil and Telugu.
After 'Ek Tha Tiger', 'Tiger Zinda Hai', and 'War', 'Pathaan' is the fourth movie to be released in the recently created YRF spy world. Following a hiatus of more than four years, this marks Shah Rukh's big return to leading roles. The actor's most recent appearance was in Aanand L Rai's 'Zero' in 2018. Shah Rukh Khan will also appear in Atlee's 'Jawan', starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, and Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki', starring Taapsee Pannu, this year.
