New Delhi: Fans have been patting the back of Jimmy Kimmel for standing up to the US President Donald Trump for called Oscars "lowest-rated Oscars in the history".

A fan wrote, "President Trump is an expert on low ratings".

Another tweeted, "You tell him Jimmy!"

The 50-year-old TV host clapped back at President Trump for the latter's tweet, degrading the 90th Annual Academy Awards, which was hosted by Kimmel himself.

In his hit-back tweet, Kimmel wrote, "Thanks, lowest rated President in HISTORY."

The hit-back came after Trump took a swipe at the Oscars and tweeted, "Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY. Problem is, we don't have Stars anymore - except your President (just kidding, of course)!"
