New Delhi: Anupam Kher took to Twitter to share a gratitude note after 'The Kashmir Files' became eligible for nominations to the Oscars 2023. Besides Vivek Agnihotri's directorial 'The Kashmir Files', 'Kantara', 'RRR', 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and 'Chhello Show' have also qualified to be eligible for OScars 2023.


Sharing pictures of his character from the film, Anupam Kher tweeted, "Deeply humbled to see #TheKashmirFiles as a film and my name shortlisted in #BestFilm and #BestActor catagory for the #Oscars2023! Even as a short list it is a big triumph for us. Congratulations also to other Indian films in the list. भारतीय सिनेमा की जय हो! 🙏😍 @TheAcademy."


 






The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) released the reminder list on January 10 which includes a list of films which are eligible for the 95th Academy Awards in various categories, including top honours like Best Actor and Best Actress awards. This is in addition to the films which are already shortlisted like 'RRR' and 'Chhello Show'.


The reminder list of Oscars 2023 features some 301 feature films including the likes of 'Avatar: The Way Of Water', 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' and 'Top Gun: Maverick'. 


"The Kashmir Files' filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also shared on Twitter, "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: #TheKashmirFiles has been shortlisted for #Oscars2023 in the first list of @TheAcademy. It’s one of the 5 films from India. I wish all of them very best. A great year for Indian cinema. 🙏🙏🙏."

However, this reminder list does not guarantee an Oscar for any of the films. Like Vivek Agnihotri’s tweet read ‘there’s a long way to go’.
This only means that they are merely eligible for the 95th Academy Awards and have not been officially nominated. The eligible Academy members are reportedly set to cast votes on January 12 and the final nominations list will be released on January 24, 2022.
