New Delhi: The sudden demise of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has left Bollywood and fans in a state of shock. The ‘Bobby’ actor passed away on April 30 after a two-year long battle with leukemia. He took his last breathe at HN Reliance hospital in Mumbai. Several Bollywood celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Kapoor mourned his death and offered their condolence on social media.


Rishi Kapoor’s wife Neetu Singh shared a picture of the late actor on Instagram along with the caption that will break your heart. She wrote, “End of our story.” Rishi can be seen posing for the camera while holding a glass of drink in his hand.

Rishi Kapoor was laid to rest at Mumbai’s Chandanwadi crematorium in on Thursday evening. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Abhishek Bachchan attended his funeral. His daughter Riddhima Kapoor couldn’t attend the last rites due to the COVID-19 lockdown. She has now reached Mumbai to extend support to her mother.

The Kapoor family had issued a statement after Rishi's death.

Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way,” the statement read.



On the professional front, Rishi Kapoor was last seen in 'The Body', which released in 2019. The film also featured Emraan Hashami and Sobhita Dhulipala.
