New Delhi: Vivek Agnihotri's controversial film 'The Kashmir Files' has been appreciated at the 69th National Film Awards 2023. 'The Kashmir Files' won the Nargis Dutt Best Film Award On National Integration. Vivek Agnihotri shared his reaction on winning big at the National Film Awards.


In an interaction with ABP Live, Vivek Agnihotri shared his reaction on winning big for his film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Vivek Agnihotri shared that he is currently in America. He also shared that he was really proud to receive India's most prestigious film award. Agnihotri also said that he always believed that 'The Kashmir Files' was not just a film, it was the film of all those people who it represented.


Vivek Agnihotri dedicated this prestigious recognition to all the Indian victims of terrorism, especially Kashmiri Hindus who suffered mass migration in 1990.


'The Kashmir Files' actor Pallavi Joshi also won the Best Supporting Actor Female National Award at the 69th edition of National Film Awards.


The Kashmir Files was written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The film revolved around the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Indian-administered Kashmir. The film depicted the genocide and exodus of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits. The film claimed that many facts related to the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits were suppressed by a conspiracy of silence.


'The Kashmir Files' stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi in the lead.


The film despite being panned by critics for being a 'propaganda' film was well-received by audiences. Made on a budget of Rs. 25 crores, the film went on to collect Rs. 340 crores. It also became the third-highest grossing Hindi film of 2022.


Many politicians and BJP leaders praised the film. PM Narendra Modi and several ministers from his cabinet appreciated the film. While a section of the audience and critics criticised the film for propagating Islamophobia.
