It is selected by a committee consisting of eminent personalities from the film industry and the ceremony is held in New Delhi every year where the President of India presents the awards. The 67th National Film Awards was supposed to be announced last year in the month of May but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The awards are generally given out by the International Film Festival of India and the Indian Panorama, by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973.
