New Delhi: Directed by Shibu Sable and bankrolled by Harshada Patankar and Swar Patankar, ‘Mishti Doi’ is a short film which revolves around the life of a widower who can be seen making arrangements to welcome his son and daughter-in-law for a family dinner. The movie has been distributed by ‘Pocket Films’ and was released on Disney+Hotstar on April 16, 2020.


A script with a sugar-rush of emotions, ‘Mishti Doi’ is Bhawna Munjal’s first short film and she surely steals the show with her on-screen presence. Bhawna shifted from Television journalism to acting as she always wanted to be on the other side of the mic. She started learning acting from Saurabh Sachdeva’s acting institute where she had to unlearn a lot of things.

Speaking about her experience of working in a short film, Bhawna Munjal said, “The short films nowadays have become a widely accepted format of movies to tell a story. It was such an enriching experience for me, and it's quite a surreal that my first short film made it to such big OTT, and been loved by so many.” She added, “The transition happened after working long for television journalism, I always wanted to be on the other side of the mic and it was just once I decided to take the leap. I started with learning acting from Saurabh Sachdev's acting institute where I had to unlearn a lot of things and learned so much and then just like any other actor in the industry the things follow with struggle and auditions.”

Sharing her excitement on ‘Mishti Doi’ bagging the Best Short Film Award at the Global India International Film Festival, Bhawna said, “Winning the best short film award at the Global India International Film Festival is a recognition of the fact that ‘Mishti Doi’ has been widely accepted. This film has been such an enriching experience for me, and it's quite a surreal that my first short film has been loved by so many.  Just like it tastes, ‘Mishti Doi’ movie too is extra sweet memory.”
