Kartik Aaryan & Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Love Aaj Kal' finally hit the theatres yesterday (February 14), on the occasion of Valentine's Day 2020, amid huge buzz and expectations. Also featuring Randeep Hooda and newcomer Arushi Sharma, 'Love Aaj Kal' has received mixed reviews from critics however the much-awaited film has opened on a positive note at the Box Office. The Imtiaz Ali directorial has taken a good start at the box-office and has collected Rs. 12.40 crore on the first day of its release.


'Love Aaj Kal' has become the biggest box office opener to date for Kartik Aaryan. The film has surpassed the first-day collections of his last release 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' to touch this feat.

Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared 'Love Aaj Kal' first day box office collection on Twitter. He wrote, "#LoveAajKal packs a solid total on Day 1... Got a boost due to #ValentinesDay2020... Metros excellent, contribute to the big total... Tier-2 cities and mass belt ordinary/low... Will it collect in double digits on Day 2 and 3, is the big question... Fri ₹ 12.40 cr. #India biz."

The film has turned out to be the second biggest opener till now after Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan & Kajol starrer 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'.


Trade pundits were expecting 'Love Aaj Kal' to do well and the film didn’t disappoint them at all on the first day. Valentine's Day boosted the collections on first day and it'll be interesting to see how the film will perform in the next few days.

For the uninitiated, Imtiaz Ali has earlier directed another film with the name 'Love Aaj Kal'. The original 'Love Aaj Kal' released in 2009 and featured Sara's father Saif Ali Khan in lead role alongside Deepika Padukone.
