Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor's upcoming film ''Baaghi'' has landed in legal trouble. While on one hand the film is garnering appreciation from the people, on the other hand a case has been filed against the co-producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Sidharth Roy Kapur.
The makers of the action film franchise The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 have filed a case stating that the action sequence in their films and Baaghi have striking similarities. Raid producers include American production com pany XYZ Productions LLC and Indonesian film company, PT Merantau with ikhya Entertainment, an Indian film production house.
Dina Dattani, informed business and legal consultant who represents the companies XYZ, Merantau and Sikhya revealed, "Yes, we served a legal notice to Nadiadwala & Sons and UTV Disney asking to be allowed to read the script and see their film. They refused so we applied to the Bombay High Court for interim relief."
She even added that they founded that after watching the trailer, Baaghi is allegedly copy of The Raid: Redemption. This Indonesian franchise is all set to be remade in Hollywood. The makers spotted that the action sequence in a 30-storeyed building is filmed shot by shot in Baaghi. This has been even pointed out by many on the social media.
Guneet Monga agreed that the action sequences between the two films have striking resemblance and further stated, "We have filed an injunction and I would not like to pre-empt. We will know when the next hearing takes place."
Baaghi co-producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Siddharth Roy Kapur are called to file their defence by next week, and a hearing is reportedly scheduled on April 18. Dina Dattani even further informed, "Meanwhile, the producers of Baaghi have been asked to hand over a copy of their script to the High Court judge and we have asked for a stay on the release."
