New Delhi: 'Kuttey', starring Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, and Konkona Sensharma, is off to a slow start. The movie has not performed well at the box office and on its first weekend and will face off against South films 'Thunivu' and 'Varisu'.

This action-thriller, which marks Aasman Bharadwaj's directorial debut, was one of the most eagerly awaited movies.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the opening collection of the film.

"#Kuttey has a slow start on Day 1… Gathered pace in the evening shows at premium multiplexes… Needs to see a miraculous turnaround on Day 2 and 3… Fri ₹ 1.07 cr. #India biz," he wrote in the tweet.

The plot of 'Kuttey', which is written and directed by Aasmaan Bhardwaj, centres on a gang of unethical police officers who are working with the local drug kingpin, who is portrayed by Naseeruddin Shah.

According to ABP Live review of the film, “By crafting a complex, dark satire that is nearly perfect, the rookie filmmaker shows his mettle. Something that filmmakers nowadays, even seasoned ones, struggle to attain. The pretty exciting, action-packed thriller, with its comedic chase scenes, promises a lot but only partially delivers. The utterly unexpected twist, which I'm willing to bet no one will see coming, and the fresh approach to the grab-and-run sub-genre are the reasons to see 'Kuttey'.”

The movie 'Kuttey' is produced by Luv Ranjan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ankur Garg, and Rekha Bhardwaj under the banners of Luv Films and Vishal Bhardwaj Films, and is distributed by T-Series, run by Gulshan and Bhushan Kumar. Vishal Bhardwaj will compose the music for the movie, and Gulzar will write the lyrics. On January 13, 2023, the movie is scheduled for release.
