New Delhi: The Parekh family, fresh off the success of their 2010 comedy-drama ‘Khichdi: The Movie’, is ready to make a strong return to the big screen with a sequel. In the forthcoming and much-anticipated sequel titled ‘Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan’, the beloved Parekh family will once again bring laughter and mayhem to theatregoers everywhere just in time for Diwali. The creators released a teaser trailer on Friday to announce the release date.
The Khichdi trailer has not just the film's ensemble star cast, including Supriya Pathak as Hansa, Anang Desai as Babuji, Rajeev Mehta as Praful, Vandana Pathak as Jayshree, etc., but also a brief appearance of Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan.
In the teaser, we also get a peek of the classic Hansa joke, this time with Himanshu trying to interpret her. The trailer indicates that the film will be both funny and touching.
The film's fundamental themes—unity, humanity, forgiveness, and the strength of family bonds—are all woven together against the festive background of Diwali.
The sitcom, which aired on StarPlus in the 2000s, was about a wacky Gujarati family living together in Mumbai. Originally performed on stage, Khichdi is the only Indian sitcom to spawn a film, a web series, and now an adventure comedy sequel.
‘Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan’, written and directed by Aatish Kapadia, promises to be an action-packed thrill trip and an intriguing look at the Parekh family's inner workings. The beloved Babuji, Praful, Hansa, Jayshree, and Himanshu will carry on the Khichdi heritage and make us laugh twice as much as we join them on their zany adventure.
'Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan' is set to hit the cinemas this Diwali.
