New Delhi: Kapil Sharma starrer ‘Zwigato’ and Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’ released this weekend. Both films have had a varying box office performance on Day 1. While ‘Zwigato’ collected Rs. 42 lakhs, ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’ collected Rs. 1.27 crores on Day 1.

Directed by Nandita Das and co-starring Shahana Goswami, 'Zwigato' opened at Rs. 42 lakhs on its opening day. As per film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Released at limited screens [409] and shows, Zwigato puts up a dull score on day 1… The word of mouth is positive, but it needs to convert into footfalls over the weekend… Fri ₹42 lacs. India biz (business).”

As per our in-house review of ‘Zwigato’, “One wouldn't be altogether wrong when they claim that 'Zwigato' is a movie for film festivals. Not because a movie like this is beyond the comprehension of the average viewer, but in order to endure the dull portions of the Kapil Sharma starrer, one must be deeply in love with cinema.”

‘Zwigato’ has been on the festival circuit round before and has garnered appreciation from that quarter.

Touted to be one of Rani Mukerji’s best performances, ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’ opened to 1.27 crores on its Day 1. The Ashima Chibber directorial released in 120 cities in India and 43 countries overseas.

Meanwhile, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared figures of 'Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway' and wrote, "Riding on glowing word of mouth, #MrsChatterjeeVsNorway picked up momentum as Day 1 progressed… Fri ₹ 1.27 cr [535 screens]… Biz on Sat and Sun crucial, needs to grow multifold/jump for a healthy weekend total. #India biz. #MCVN."

‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’ also stars Jim Sarbh, Anirban Bhattacharya and Neena Gupta in special roles.
