According to a report in a new portal, the Madras High Court has granted permission to late Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa to file a civil suit against the makers of ‘Thalaivi’. This would mean that Deepa can now file a case against Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Thalaivi’ director AL Vijay as well as other projects based on the life of Jayalalithaa, which are in pipeline, the report in News Minute said.
Deepa had moved the Madras HC earlier this month, seeking a stay on ‘Thalaivi’ and a web series which is set to be directed by Gautham Menon.
Deepa, in her affidavit, said that the makers of ‘Thalaivi’ and Gautham Menon didn’t take her consent for their respective projects and also they don’t have any legal right to depict the life of late Jayalalithaa.
Deepa has said in the court that she wants the makers to submit the entire script to her and seek her permission, the report added.
Talking about ‘Thalaivi’, Kangana Ranaut was trolled by several users on social media for her look in the film but her sister Rangoli Chandel came to her rescue. Fans took a dig at the ‘Queen’ actress for heavy use of prosthetics in the upcoming movie.
“Anyone who has got eyes can see the brilliance of prosthetic work baki samosa gang is there jo din ko raat aur raat ko din kehte hain, they are inconsequential,” Rangoli tweeted.
