Chandramukhi 2 is the sequel of the Tamil horror-comedy film Chandramukhi which starred Rajinikanth and Jyothika in the lead roles.. Portraying the titular role, actress Kangana Ranaut portrays the dancer Chandramukhi, from the court of King Vettiyan Raja (played by Raghava Lawrence).
Recently, South superstar Jyothika, who played the same role in the prequel, praised Kangana and tagged her as "one of the most talented actresses of Indian cinema," adding that she is a huge fan of her work.
"Feel extremely proud to see one of the most talented actresses of Indian cinema play the role of #Chandramukhi, @KanganaTeam you look ravishing and I’m a huge fan of your work and I’m waiting to see this one specially for you," she posted.
Earlier, in an interview with The Hindu, Kangana Ranaut spoke about the film and said, “I am the original Chandramukhi. It’s an origin story which delves into who she is, and why she turned into a ghost. I’ve not been a commericial heroine and I usually stuck to art films or women-centric films on our fights and struggles. But there comes a point in time where you want to try something new, and it’s wonderful to do a film with song and dance sequences. The film’s climax is something you should look forward to.”
Mahima Nambiar, Lakshmi Menon, Vadivelu (reprising his role), Srushti Dange, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Y. G. Mahendran, Ravi Mariya and others also feature in the film.
