New Delhi: On 'Selfiee's opening day, Kangana Ranaut heavily criticised the movie on her Instagram profile. The film, which stars Emraan Hashmi and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles, is directed by Raj Mehta. In response to a Selfiee box office report that likened Kangana to Akshay, the actor sarcastically praised Karan Johar.

In her post, Kangana made a veiled comparison between the first day of her most recent outing, 'Dhakaad', and 'Selfiee'.

“Karan Johar movie Selfie has hardly made 10 lakhs on the first day I don't see even one trade or media person talk about it forget mocking or bullying him the way they harass me…” she said.

In her subsequent post, Kangana reposted a story with the following as its headline: “'Male version of Kangana Ranaut!,' Netizens react as Akshay's ‘Selfiee’ fails to impress viewers, may be his 6th flop film in a row.”

“I was looking for news about selfie flop I found all the news is about me…yeh bhi meri hi galti hai,” with some laughing emojis. She went on to add, “Wah bhai Karan johar wah (Congrats),” she added.

The review of the comedy drama on ABP Live reads: "Selfiee is nevertheless watchable among the recent Bollywood offerings, despite the fact that it struggles to engage its audience due to the absence of irony in comparison to the original film."

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Selfiee’ only managed to rake in a total of Rs 2.55 Cr. With its weak box office performance, it is reasonable to anticipate that the film won't be able to generate a decent box office haul.

'Selfiee' is the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film 'Driving License'. The film also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty. It's backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Production along with Magic Frames, Prithviraj Productions, Cape of Good Films and Star Studios.
