New Delhi: One of the most well-known actors in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut celebrates her birthday today, on March 23. The 36-year-old actress carved out a unique place for herself in Bollywood. Yet it wasn't an easy road to fame for her. Even against her parents' desires, she rose from being a young woman from a tiny village to becoming one of the most bankable actors.

Her outspoken comments about her parents, ex-boyfriends, and other subjects have frequently made news. She made one such audacious claim about one of her ex-boyfriends, a scientist who was unaware that she was an actor, back in 2013.

The actress, who is now making headlines for her conflict with Diljit Dosanjh on the Khalistani problem, opened up about the men in her life to Filmfare at the time, claiming that the longest period of time he was unaware of her acting was two weeks. She made the decision to keep it hidden from him since she anticipated that he would ask her extensively about her work.

"He was an intelligent and sorted man. He’s still a friend. It didn’t work because he wanted to get married and I was not ready. It’s not impossible to date a normal guy. My ex did see me like an ordinary girl. He respected me. He appreciated that I came from nowhere and made it big. I like being appreciated; I don’t want to be ignored. But I don’t want to be with a fan. All the same, I don’t want to be with an arrogant man. He should be balanced," she told the publication at the time.

She continued by saying that the scientist was astounded by the media's interest in her when she brought him along to an event in Dubai where the media was present. "I remember being with my ex in Dubai for a fashion show. Being a scientist he was not used to the paparazzi. I liked that relationship because it was a normal, regular one. After the show, his face had turned red with amazement. He told me ‘God, you are so important’. For a scientist to step out of the laboratory and attend a fashion show was something unique. He had seen me doing dishes at home and now I was the diva on the ramp," the actress revealed.

Kangana Ranaut is best known for delivering memorable roles in films such as 'Gangster', 'Fashion', 'Tanu Weds Manu', and 'Queen'.

On the work front, the actress is currently involved in the post-production of her directorial venture 'Emergency', that will also see her essaying the role of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She will also be seen in the South film 'Chandramukhi 2', that she wrapped up recently.

We wish Kangana Ranaut a very Happy Birthday!
