New Delhi: Kamal Haasan set off his foot in the world of cinema as a child artist in the 1960 Tamil-language film ‘Kalathur Kannamma’ for which he received the ‘Rashtrapati Award’. Since then there has been no stopping for the talented actor as he went on to star in iconic movies like ‘Sadma’, ‘Chachi 420’ and many more. The ‘Guru’ actor has received the National Film Awards four times and has also been awarded ‘Padma Bhushan’ and ‘Padma Shri’.

Today, as Kamal Haasan celebrates his 66th birthday, his daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan took to their social media and penned down heartfelt note for their father.

Shruti Haasan shared a cute throwback picture with her father and wrote, “Happy birthday to my Bapuji, Appa, daddy dearest @ikamalhaasan may this year be another memorable one in your library of splendid years can’t wait to see all you have in store for the world”



Akshara Haasan wrote, “Happiest birthday to my friend, my amazing father, and a legend who has set the best example ; not just for me but millions of people. Happiest birthday my Bapuji.”



Shruti and Akshara are the children of Kamal Haasan and Bollywood actress Sarika. The couple got married in 1988 after the birth of their first child Shruti Haasan in the year 1986. The couple, however, parted their ways in 2004. The ‘Nayakan’ actor was then in a relationship with actress Gautami Tadimalla from 2005 till 2016.

Other than being a fantastic actor, Kamal Haasan is also a film director, host, screenwriter, playback singer, lyricist and a politician. Haasan launched his own political party ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ (lit. People's Justice Centre) in 2018.
