Just a few weeks after Karan Johar’s most anticipated film starring Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt & Sonakshi Sinha went on floors, the plot of 'Kalank' has been leaked, if the latest reports are to believe. While film’s director Abhishek Varman and the producers KJo, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios had tried their best to maintain the secrecy around the plot, the damage was done sooner than imagined.
‘Kalank’ that has been in news since filmmaker Yash Johar first mentioned it 15 years ago, is an epic emotional period drama set in the 1940s and goes beyond borders.
And now the reports reveal that Kalank actually tells a story of a time when prostitutes and blacksmiths stood together to defeat the British government.
The makers of the film also couldn’t protect the details of the stellar cast and now we know which actor would be seen in which role.
According to Catch News, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan and Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in crucial roles. Madhuri, who replaced Sridevi, will play the role of a courtesan(prostitute) and teach ‘Kathak’ to other girls. Varun Dhawan will portray a Muslim blacksmith at the famous ‘Heera Mandi’ market of Lahore which was later converted into a red-light area by the British.

Sanjay Dutt will reportedly be seen as a king in the film, while Sonakshi Sinha will portray the free spirited Banjaran (gypsy-woman). Aditya Roy Kapur will play the role of an artisan who’ll rebel against the British government along with Varun Dhawan.
Alia Bhatt will be seen as one of the girls(dancers) under Madhuri’s character while Kunal Khemu’s role in the film is still unknown.
The film reportedly will also feature a dance performance by ‘MS Dhoni-An Untold Story’ fame Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan will be seen in intense action sequences in the first 15-minutes of the film.
Karan Johar and his father Yash Johar’s dream project is currently under shoot in a 15-crore set designed by Amrita Mahal Nakai in Film City, Mumbai and is scheduled to release on April 19th, 2019.
