New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi had asked the leading Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt to encourage their fans to vote in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. PM Modi had urged the tinsel town celebs to ask their fans to actively participate in the electoral process. In response, Akshay, Salman & other B’wood stars had pledged their support and they requested the fans to exercise their right to vote.

Alia Bhatt, who is currently busy promoting her film ‘Kalank’ along with co-stars Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur, had also asked her fans to vote in the elections. Here’s what she tweeted!

During an interview with a news channel, Varun, Alia and Sonakshi were asked about how they are going to do their bit to elect the new government at the centre. Both Varun and Sonakshi quickly replied, ‘’by voting’’.

Alia revealed that she cannot vote in the Lok Sabha Elections. When asked the reason, the ‘Gully Boy’ actress quietly replied, ‘’passport.’’

For the uninitiated, Alia and her mother Soni Razdan doesn’t hold an Indian passport and they both are British citizens. According to Indian rules, a person can’t vote if he/she holds dual citizenship. The ‘Student of the Year’ actress can only vote if she gives up her British citizenship.
