New Delhi: In a recent interview, Rajkummar Rao praised Sonam Kapoor and talked about their old interview that went viral. The actor was responding to the criticism she faced online for a video of them together wherein she addressed the hardships of being a star kid.

Sonam and Rajkummar teamed up for the movie 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga'. In a promotional interview for the movie, Sonam highlighted the positive and negative aspects of being an actor who comes from a family in the industry.

When asked about the famous video, Rajkummar told News18 that it happened in the past and he wasn't the person to reflect on it.

"That video is edited in a way that it shows my reactions to other things. This had happened long back. I’m not someone to sit and think about it. It was in the moment. Sonam is one of the most kind-hearted girls I’ve met here. She’s so genuine. She’s always been there not just for me but for everyone too. She was putting her point across and I was putting mine,” he said.

Rajkummar stated further in the interview that Sonam is a close friend and that he recently paid her a visit to meet her son Vayu.

Sonam Kapoor was asked if she thought star kids had an advantage in the industry in the viral video from a Film Companion interview. In response, she stated that although star kids may be protected, they do not have a significant advantage beyond having been exposed to people in the industry.

"The downside to that is that a lot of them do not take you seriously because they think you are a baccha (kid). Someone's an uncle or something, so there is that professional element that just goes away (for star kids). Also, there is not much that grows under a banyan tree. If you are a son or daughter of someone who has been ridiculously successful, there is always going to be comparisons. To find your own path and identity is difficult," Sonam said.

Sonam Kapoor said that it took her five years to get her first film and that when she was 17, her father Anil Kapoor wanted her to work with Vidhu Vinod Chopra even though she actually wished to assist Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Sonam said Anil told her Vidhu is his friend, but Anil did not know Bhansali.

On the work front, Rajkummar Rao was alst seen in Anubhav Sinha's film 'Bheed'.
