New Delhi: A right-wing group has filed a police complaint in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, against actor Tapsee Pannu. The actor has been accused of allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments at a fashion show in Mumbai, a police official said on Monday.

According to the complaint made by Eklavya Singh Gaur of the group Hind Rakshak, Pannu was seen wearing a skimpy clothing and a jewellery that featured the goddess Laxmi.

No FIR has been filed and a probe into the allegations is underway, a police official added.

Monisha Jaising, a fashion designer, created Taapsee Pannu's costume for Lakme Fashion Week 2023, which became the buzz of the town. Taapsee strutted down the runway wearing a shimmering crimson gown. She wore an embellished gown covered in sequins. She enhanced her appearance with a large golden necklace.

After the fashion show, Tapsee was trolled on social media. Many users felt the actress shouldn't have worn the gold necklace with such a skin-baring dress because of the integrally etched Goddess Lakshmi pattern on it. For wearing a goddess necklace with a skimpy costume and being 'insensitive,' several people began moral policing the actor.

On the work front, Tapsee Pannu will be next seen in Dunki. The film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani, and it also stars Shah Rukh Khan. The film has been written by Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijaat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon, and produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan. The film went on floors in April 2022, with the next scheduled being shot extensively in Punjab. She is also gearing up for the second part of the film 'Haseen Dillruba' alongside Vikrant Massey.
